Coweta’s Isabella Clay
By Elizabeth Contreras
While many students juggle multiple clubs or sports, Isabella Clay has intentionally chosen to pour everything into one passion. Having been immersed in agriculture for as long as she can remember, this Coweta senior is fulfilling a family legacy built by generations of family. Today Clay serves as the Coweta FFA Chapter President, a role she proudly views as both an honor and responsibility.
“I lead my officer team and ensure that all of our chapter’s events run smoothly,” Clay says.
Through FFA, Clay has developed both personally and professionally. “My ag teachers have had the greatest impact on my life,” she shares. “I wouldn’t be where I am . . . without the time and effort they have poured into me.”
FFA has provided Clay with the direction and tools needed to develop strong work ethic and appreciation. “I have been pushed to compete in contests that require dedication, extra time, and effort,” Clay continues. “These experiences have strengthened my work ethic and taught me to truly appreciate my accomplishments because of the hard work behind them.”
One of Clay’s key lessons has been learning to follow before leading. “Everyone leads differently, and your leadership style is shaped by the experiences you have while following others,” she explains. “To be a great leader, you must first be a good follower.” She now uses that mindset to mentor younger members in her chapter.
This year Clay is laser-focused on placing top 5 in the state FFA speech contest. “I’m researching topics that fit my strengths and carefully selecting the one I believe will give me the best chance at success.”
All the extra time and work behind FFA involvement means strict priorities and dedication towards academic excellence. “Sometimes keeping up with school requires extra work and late nights, but maintaining straight A’s is a priority for me,” she adds.
For Clay, plans after graduation include attending Oklahoma State University to double major in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Communications. She hopes to return to the classroom as an agriculture educator, keeping the family legacy alive.
Isabella Clay’s singular commitment to FFA and unrelenting drive towards success show intentional leadership, maturity, and purpose. Her story proves that passion, when paired with discipline, can open doors far beyond the show ring.
