Coweta’s Mason Lott

How many sophomore pitchers are hitting 90 MPH? Coweta High School’s Mason Lott is a consistent pitcher with a big arm, that will only get bigger as he continues to mature and develop.

“A strength of my skill set since the season started was my velocity on the mound, I started at topping 88 MPH to now sitting 88-90 MPH,” said Lott.

It’s an accomplishment that brings pride to the young pitcher who started playing the game when he was five years old. Lott said CHS is an amazing place for many reasons.

“CHS is an amazing place for an athlete throughout all sports. We have a strength and conditioning class that has helped all of us with becoming more explosive and help prevent our injuries,” said Lott.

But being a student-athlete is not without its challenges.

“My biggest challenge as an athlete so far is my elbow problems and just trying to bounce back from those bad times where I thought I would never get back up to where I used to be, but I was wrong. Everything since my elbow injury has bettered all of my mechanics and the way I go about things,” said Lott.

To mentally prepare himself for competition, Lott likes to do what many of his peers do, listen to music and pray.

“How I mentally prepare myself for competition all starts when I get to the weight room. I put on my music, stay to myself and just get in the right headspace and then I pray before every start,” said Lott.

His love and passion for the game spills over to his teammates.

“What I love most is how they believe in me every step of the way and when I have a bad outing they are always there. Especially Trace Hall and Braxton Barnes. They always notice when I’m down and remind me that I’m here for a reason,” Lott said. “My sister inspires me the most. She pushes through all the pain and suffering just to be there for her teammates.”
