Coweta’s Zoe Childress
Coming off a great season that witnessed the Lady Tigers win 25 games, players like Zoe Childress are excited to get back on the court and make another run in the playoffs. Childress is a senior guard this year and one of the leaders coach Jade Allison will lean on for another great season. Childress said she loves being part of this team and loves her teammates.
“My favorite thing about my teammates is how well everyone gets along. Everyone communicates well and is so nice to each other and this is the biggest reason we have such a solid team,” Childress said.
The senior points to some of her teammates as people who motivate the team and keep everyone loose during practice and before games.
“My most vocal teammate is Ebony Bell, and she makes sure I see her when she is posting up. Gia Dennis is definitely the teammate that always keeps me laughing because she always has such a great attitude and tries to put a smile on everyone’s faces,” Childress said.
As a wing player, Childress has continued to work on her game to ensure she is a contributor to the overall success of her team.
“I feel like I have improved most on being more confident and especially with my shot. My nerves definitely get the better of me sometimes, but I want to continue to grow and help my team,” Childress said.
She finds inspiration in the person she is closest to in life, her mother.
“My mom is a source of inspiration because through everything she has supported me and always has my best interest at heart. She is always there to pick me up when I am down, and I will always appreciate her for that,” Childress said.
Childress started playing the game of basketball when she was in kindergarten and now she has been a member of National Honor Society since her freshman year. The senior does have her favorite in school.
“My favorite subject is math and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Carter,” Childress said.
When she’s not on the court or doing homework, you can usually find Childress spending time with family, going to the movies, coloring and playing basketball. Childress said she would like to attend college next year.
“I would like to go to college to become a Sonographer,” Childress said.
