Coweta’s Brock Heilmann
The football field is full of highs and lows. Learning to battle through adversity is a big part of the game. Taking this lesson off the field into everyday life is the most valuable thing football has taught Brock Heilmann.
Brock is a junior running back for the Coweta Tigers. Head Coach Tim Harper predicts Brock will be one of the hardest backs in the state to tackle. “He is fast and physical; he has worked extremely hard to improve from his sophomore year. Watch out, he has added a killer spin move to his repertoire! He is one of those guys who has the ability to connect with everyone else on the team. I think he’s everybody’s best friend,” adds Harper. “Brock is one of the hardest-working young men I have ever had the privilege of coaching. What makes him special is he does NOT care what the job is, he gives it his 100% effort. He is so unselfish and team oriented.”
Celebrating with teammates when they make a great play is one of Brock’s favorite things about football. His teammates are friends and role models. “Lolo Bell has left the biggest impression on me because he worked hard and he was really good at what he does,” said Brock.
Football is Brock’s passion. “I love everything about it. I’ve been doing it my whole life!” Brock’s dad signed him up to play football as soon as he was able to play. Brock is thankful to both his parents. His dad’s help with training made him a stronger player and his mom was instrumental in getting him everywhere.
Beyond acting as primary transportation through the years, Brock says his mom is his inspiration for one big reason. “She makes things happen.”
Representing a place you love makes being a student-athlete meaningful. “Coweta High School is a great school and the people there are nice,” says Brock. With so many great teachers, choosing a favorite is hard but Brock says Mrs. Morgan is the best teacher he has had. “She is so nice and she taught me well!”
You can’t take football away from Brock, even when he is on vacation. The most memorable and fun vacation he took was with his family to Florida. “We swam in the ocean, played football on the beach and ate out every night!” he exclaimed.
While Brock hasn’t finalized his plans for after high school yet, he does know that he wants to play football in college.
