GLENPOOL LADY WARRIORS

Coach: Bobby Belveal

23-24 Record: 25-5

OUTLOOK

After leading the Lady Warriors to the state tournament semifinals, head coach Bobby Belveal is looking forward to getting this group back on the court, led by Aaliyah Shawnee (5-8, Sr.) at guard.

“We return four starters from last year’s state semifinal team. We hope to build on the success of the last couple of years. Most of our core players have the experience of two State Tournaments, and we hope that experience allows us to advance further this year. We have a tough schedule, including the Tournament of Champions, that we feel will prepare us for the playoffs,” said coach Belveal.

Shawnee averaged 18 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Shawnee recently signed her letter of intent to play college ball for NSU. Tyra McKinnie (6-0, Jr.) will start at forward and be the compliment to Shawnee. McKinnie is a double-double machine averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per contest.

Yaya Gibson (5-2, So.) is an exciting guard who accounted for 10 points and 4.0 assists as a freshman. Gibson and fellow sophomore Demoia Gater (5-9, So.) are expected to play significant roles for the Lady Warriors this season. Gater makes her return after battling through an injury last season. Also look for Camdyn Hull (5-6, Sr.) at guard where she averaged 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds last year. Hull could see an increase in her stat line this season. Other players to watch include Kamry Brown (5-8, Sr.) at forward, Meske Proctor (5-7, So.) at guard, Shilah Tenniel (5-8, Sr.) at forward, Ryleigh Hunter (5-4, Sr.) at guard, Cameron Shed (5-5, Jr.) at guard, Autumn Spears (5-5, Jr.) at guard, and Faith Rogers (6-1, Jr.) at forward.
