Glenpool’s Addie Hackler
On a cheer team, there are several positions the team members will perform in order to make the routines safe. One of those positions is a back-spot, who is essential to ensure the safety of the team member who is performing six to ten feet above everyone’s heads.
That is the role for Glenpool High School senior Addie Hackler.
“I am a back spot while I used to be a main base. As a senior I also try to encourage and motivate my teammates to my best ability,” Hackler said. “I love that our team remains positive during difficult times and that we always know how to hype each other up.”
Hackler started her cheer journey in middle school, and she’s never looked back.
“I first started cheering in seventh grade which was the year we came back from covid and there were only two other girls cheering with me,” said Hackler.
This season, Hackler and her teammates are enjoying a great season on the field and leading the fans on Friday night. They are also preparing for competition and expectations are growing.
“My expectation for this year is to place the highest in Class 5A and for all of our teammates to be proud of what they performed,” said Hackler.
The senior said she is inspired by her parents who have always been there to support her in all of her activities throughout her school days.
“My parents inspire me they have always been my biggest supporters and help me strive to become anything I could ever be,” said Hackler.
Once her days come to an end at GHS, Hackler said she plans on pursuing a career in the healthcare industry.
“I would like to become a flight paramedic after graduation.
Also a track athlete, Hackler said she does have her favorites in the classroom.
“My favorite subject has always been science, but my favorite teacher is Mr. Philips, he’s always been a great influence and supporter over the years.”
In her free time the senior said she likes to be with friends and family.
