Glenpool’s Payton Willhite
When Glenpool High School’s Payton Willhite steps onto the pitch for the Lady Warriors this season, it will be her first varsity competition as a student-athlete. Willhite is a freshman for Glenpool and is looking forward to getting the season started.
“I’m currently playing outside back and center-mid. I enjoy the versatility of both positions; I love being able to impact the game in different ways,” Willhite said. “One of my biggest strengths is field awareness and compete for the ball and win challenges. This season, I’m really focusing on improving leadership and helping keep the team’s morale high.”
Willhite said she loves being on the team and playing with this group of teammates.
“ ”“What I love most is how well we all get along. We play together as a family and always have each other’s backs, no matter what. That bond makes a huge difference, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Willhite said. “A teammate who has really impressed me is Alexis Jiles. From day one, she made me feel welcome on the team, and her motivation never stops. She’s always pushing herself and everyone around her to be better, and that’s something I really admire.”
The freshman is proud of being a two-sport athlete at GHS. She is a member of the varsity basketball team as well. Willhite said she is inspired by teammate.
“Hadleigh Agnew inspires me every day. She works incredibly hard to keep improving and always lifts up the people around her. She’s one of the sweetest souls I know, but when it’s time to compete, she’s completely locked in,” said Willhite. One day Willhite hopes to play soccer at the next level and earn a degree in physical therapy.
