Jenks Girls Track
During the history of the Jenks girls track program, the team has amassed a total of eight state championships. Expectations are always high at Jenks and under the guidance of head coach Shawna Dial, the team is working hard to get back to that championship form.
“We have a great group of student athletes that work extremely hard at perfecting the events that they compete in. They are team players that are willing to compete in any events that we need them to. We are looking forward to a fantastic outdoor season,” said coach Shawna Dial.
Leading the way are a pair of seniors competing in different disciplines. Erinn Benjamin (Sr.) is one of the top athletes on the team and will compete in hurdles and run for the relay teams. Benjamin has excellent speed and quickness out of the blocks. Kamryn Klein (Sr.) will compete in the sprinting events and run a leg on the shorter relay events. Klein has continued to improve and is expected to have a great year.
“ ”Amara Hendricks (Jr.) is the Swiss Army knife for the Lady Trojans. Hendricks will compete in the pole vault, long jump and participate in relays. Her athleticism and ability to adapt to the different events makes her a triple-threat for Jenks.
Two distance runners in Charli Keely (Jr.) and Raquel Raley (Jr.) are ones to watch this season. With times falling, both competitors are poised for excellent seasons. Also look for Darcy Vail (Jr.) who will compete in the throwing events. Vail is leading the way for the Lady Trojans in throws and is working hard to give the team points at every meet.
Berlin Berry (Fr.) may be new to varsity athletics, but the freshman is showing she belongs in the conversation of athletes to watch this season. Berry joins Kate Barber (Jr.) in the 400-meters, and 800-meter events. Barber will also compete in relays.
Look for the Lady Trojans to continue to improve as the season moves forward and the athletes push themselves to lower times and grab spots on the podium.
