Jenks’ J’Anna Jacobsen – Mom of the Month Spotlight – Presented by Southern Nazarene University

J’Anna Jacobsen

Jenks Mom of the Month

The Jacobsen kids are certainly leaving their mark on the Jenks athletic programs. Youngest siblings Guy and Audrey are playing football, wrestling, and volleyball respectively. Both are in the eighth grade. Eldest son Cash is a senior at the high school where he plays football and lacrosse. Cash is committed to playing football next fall at South Dakota State University. Eldest daughter Ava graduated in 2024 after a very successful high school career. Ava is a state champion in volleyball, and a five-time state champion in tennis. She also made the tennis All-State team and is attending the University of Florida this fall. All of that can keep a mom busy.

J’Anna Jacobsen has volunteered for her kid’s athletic teams in every role imaginable. She has served as the volleyball team mom, high school meals coordinator, the treasurer for the Lacrosse booster club and social media coordinator. She did social media for the tennis team and served as the grade rep, booster club secretary and social media coordinator for football.

“I’ve met so many amazing people volunteering at Jenks. People from all different back grounds with various talents, all coming together for the common good and supporting the student athletes and coaches at Jenks. It makes attending games and events even more fun,” said Jacobsen.

Parent involvement is something Jacobsen said is crucial for the athletes.

“It’s important for parents to be involved in their kids’ activities to lead by example. Serving others, being invested, and having enthusiasm for activities, especially your childs, are all lifelong attributes that can help them have a fulfilling and happy life,” said Jacobsen.

Jacobsen played and graduated from Jenks. She was a member of the first girls state championship basketball team. Being part of the larger Trojan family is fulfilling and the Jacobsen family would not have it any other way.

“I’m lucky to be a small part of the Trojan Family! So many people volunteer their time and resources to help support Jenks programs live up to their pursuit of excellence. The athletic department staff and administration are wonderful to work with, they truly care about all the student athletes,” said Jacobsen. “Jenks has been the perfect fit for our children and family. The strong sense of community, amazing teachers and coaches, and the wide variety of classes, sports, extra-curricular activities, and clubs.”
