Jenks’ Sophia Lefler – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Auto Tulsa

Jenks’ Sophia Lefler

When Sophia Lefler turned six years old, she got her first taste of golf. Now a senior at Jenks High School, Lefler is a member of the varsity golf team and is looking forward to getting back on the course this spring.

“My goals for this season are to win state as a team, and finish top 3 individually. My goal for the whole season is to finish top 5 in all of the events,” said Lefler.

The senior has earned a scholarship to play golf at the next level, but like every golfer, she continues to work and improve her game.

“My strength of my skills is my short game. I have been working very hard on improving my driver,” Lefler said. “I mentally prepare myself by reviewing the mental notes on the golf course that I have been taught.

As a team Jenks is poised for another great season. Lefler said everyone works hard and pushes each other in practice.

“My former teammate Isabella Suttee left an impression on me because of her work ethic on everything that she does in her life. She strives to be the best version of herself, and I admire that of her,” Lefler said. “I love how kind everyone is, and how much fun we all have together. The memories that I have made with them I will cherish forever.”

Lefler said she is inspired by another golfer who plays at the professional level. “The person who inspires me most is Nelly Korda. She is a professional golfer who focuses on inspiration instead of expectation,” said Lefler.
