VYPE: Kate D. and Kate W. You’re both juniors this season, but what accomplishment are you most proud of in your career?
Kate Datel: The accomplishment I am most proud of is my team making it to state last year.
Kate Wernli: My biggest accomplishment is earning the opportunity to play basketball at the next level.
VYPE: What were your stats from last season?
KD: Eight points per game, 2.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
KW: Fifteen points, 2.0 assists and 7.0 rebounds.
VYPE: What is your process for improving your game?
KD: My process to getting better is giving 110 percent effort at all times and being coachable.
KW: My process for getting better is, daily team practice and daily weight training at school. Shooting on my own 4-5 times a week with 400-500 makes each workout. Training with my personal basketball trainer 1-2 times a week. Speed and agility 2-3 times a week.

VYPE: Who inspires you?
KD: My parents and coaches inspire me because they are always there for me pushing me to be my best.
KW: My sister inspires me because of her drive and her no quit attitude. Her persistence to find the better side of things is inspiring.
VYPE: What is the best advice you have ever received?
KD: The best advice anyone has ever given to me is give 100 percent effort to achieve goals in all areas of a balanced life.
KW: The best advice anyone has ever given me is that basketball is not who I am, but it’s what I do. I should use my platform as an athlete to lead, encourage, and make a positive impact for Christ.
VYPE: Who would you like to give a shout out to?
KD: Shout out to God, my friends, my family, and my coaches.
KW: Shout out to my mom and dad for making me the player that I am today and being my biggest supporters in life and in basketball. I love y’all!
