VYPE: What grade are you in, and when did you start participating in cheer?
Eden Lau: I am currently a junior, and I began participating in cheer during my 8th-grade year.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory or moment as an athlete for Bixby HS?
EL: One of my most cherished memories with BVC was winning the regional stunt competition during my sophomore year. The feeling of hard work paying off and celebrating that victory with my team was unforgettable.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject to study?
EL: My favorite subject is mathematics because I enjoy problem-solving and the logic behind it.
VYPE: What makes BHS a great place for you as a student-athlete?
EL: Bixby High School provides an incredibly supportive environment for student-athletes. The coaches, teachers, and my teammates work together to ensure we succeed both academically and athletically. The culture here promotes teamwork, discipline, and personal growth, which has helped me thrive.
VYPE: Have you been impressed with a teammate this season, or do you have a former teammate who left an impression on you?
EL: A former teammate, Halle from the Class of 2024, left a significant impression on me. Her leadership, dedication, and passion for cheerleading inspired me to push myself harder and set higher standards.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing, and who is the most serious?
EL: Katie McGeough has an incredible ability to keep everyone laughing with her humor and energy. On the other hand, Landey Stevens is the most serious teammate because of her unwavering integrity and her deep care for the team and our performance.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
EL: I prepare mentally for competition through consistent practice, repetitive drills, and building confidence in my abilities. Focusing on the details and trusting the process allows me to step onto the mat with a clear mind and determination.
VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
EL: What I love most about my teammates is the bond we share. We all get along effortlessly, and I feel like I can talk to any one of them about anything. The friendships we’ve built go beyond cheer, and that connection is truly special.
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
EL: My goal after high school is to attend Oklahoma State University or the University of Oklahoma, where I plan to major in business. I also hope to continue cheerleading at the collegiate level.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
EL: My older sisters inspire me because of their unwavering dedication and strong work ethic. They’ve shown me the importance of perseverance, balancing responsibilities, and striving for success in everything they do.
