Sand Springs’ Dom Forbes
Every year there are players who fly under the radar, but still find their way to a roster at the next level. Some of these players attend a smaller school before transferring to a larger school in college, but some grab the attention of recruiters in their junior year and the recruiting heats up. Charles Page High School’s Dom Forbes is a guy who may appear to be flying under the radar, but that will not last.
Sandite head coach Bobby Klinck called Forbes, “the best wide receiver in the state.” For Forbes, knowing his coach has supreme confidence in his abilities fuels his passion for the game.
“It feels great knowing coach is confident in me; he pushes me to do the best,” Forbes said. “The goal is a state championship and to stay productive. Makes my job easy when you have the best quarterback in the state throwing to you.”
This offseason, Forbes has continued to work hard and improve in certain areas like speed and agility. Forbes said their hard work in the offseason has paid off.
“Everyone is locked in on their job. I’ve been impressed with our team captains like Easton, and Alex. Also, some younger boys becoming more vocal stepping up,” said Forbes.
Forbes said he is ready to step into those leadership roles and do whatever the teams need him to do. “Being more experienced now, I lead by example telling my teammates right assignments how to run stuff right and just being more of a vocal teammate,” Forbes said. “You might see me play corner this year.”
