OUTLOOK

Experience, depth, leadership. The Sapulpa Chieftains seem to be putting all of the pieces in place for a great season. Head coach Jordan Nagel said the team is headed to Class 6A, which brings new challenges for the Chieftains.

“We have a combination of all grade levels that will play valuable minutes for our team this year. We are making the jump back to 6A and that will bring new challenges. However, with our senior leadership we look to still build on last year’s success. We are led by senior Zach Lewis who was first team All-District last season. We also will have three other seniors who all have played valuable minutes the last several years,” said coach Nagel.

Zach Lewis – Senior – Sapulpa High School

Zach Lewis (6-1, Sr.) is a four-year starter and a leader on the stat sheet. Lewis is everything you want in a point guard. His energy level is always high, and he plays solid defense to go with his ability to score. Jalen Pratt (6-2, Sr.), Jaden Lanham (6-5, Sr.) and Laneer Everett (6-4, Sr.) are three players to watch this season. Everett and Lanham will play forward while Pratt will play guard. This group of seniors are ready to take on the challenges of Class 6A.

“Sophomore class is loaded with young talent who all have varsity experience. Muskogee transfer Jace Parker (6-0, So.) looks to have a big season in his first year at Sapulpa. Roman Poindexter (6-4, So.) and Chase Ward (6-0, So.) look to have a bigger role and big seasons as they both played valuable minutes last year on varsity as freshman,” said Nagel.

Other players to watch include Tyler Morgan (6-3, Jr.), Demarion McKinnery (6-0, Jr.), Cash McClendon (6-1, So.), Brice Currin (5-9, So.), Landon Barber (6-0, Fr.), and Mekko Coon (5-11, Fr.).
