SAPULPA LADY CHIEFTAINS

Coach: Darlean Calip

23-24 Record: 23-7

OUTLOOK

You can never count out Darlean Calip and the Lady Chieftains. This season they return a good nucleus of players who are ready to test themselves at the Class 6A level.

“Being removed from Class 6A the past four years, we embraced the challenge of being back. We return three starters and two players that received significant playing time but were lost to injury the later part of the season. This is fun group to coach, and we look for some new pieces to shine toward a successful season,” said coach Calip.

Wrigley Adkisson (6-1, Sr.) is back at forward where she averaged 6.7 points a game as a junior. Adkisson is committed to play for Southwestern Oklahoma State next season. Coach Calip said Adkisson is a “long, lengthy forward who can score at all three levels.” Her leadership on the floor will be key for Sapulpa this season. Riki McQuarters (5-8, Jr.) accounted for 11.3 points as a sophomore. McQuarters is athletic with great quickness and agility. She was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals a game.

Lou Chaney (5-6, So.) and Kailynne Parker (5-7, Jr.) are two guards that bring experience to the floor. Chaney accounted for 6.4 points a game while Parker knocked down 3.4 points. Also look for Kianna Littlebear (5-6, So.) at guard where she averaged 5.2 points a game. Other players to watch include Jayla Moton (5-3, Sr.) at guard, Baileigh Mullins (5-8, Sr.) at forward, Deryka Brown (5-8, So.) at guard, Hallie Sutton (5-8, Fr.), Finley Yocham (5-7, Fr.), Abagail Rainey (5-7, Fr.), Presley Pierce (5-8, Fr.), Jaden Brown (5-8, So.), Justice Henley (5-8, So.), Adison Marlin (5-10, Jr.), and Nylia Reid (5-10, Jr.).
