SAPULPA WRESTLING

Entering the 2024-25 season, Sapulpa wrestling coach Cody Fuller said the boys and girls wrestling teams are eager to get back on the mat.

“Our boys and girls teams are hard-nosed and driven. They will leave it all on the mat. They are always trying to get in the practice room to get more mat time. We are a young team but have shown a lot of growth,” said coach Fuller.

Jack Madden – Sapulpa High School

Leading the way is Jack Madden. A three-sport athlete at SHS, Madden has gained the respect of his teammates thanks to his work ethic. Madden is known for having an endless gas tank and is always pushing himself to do more.

Tucker Alberty is expected to make a big impact this season in his first year of varsity wrestling. Coach Fuller believes Alberty is on the cusp of doing something great for Sapulpa. Fuller said Alberty has, “as much skill and funk as anyone in the state.”

Also look for Ryan Peterson in the lineup this season. Peterson is known as a motivator and someone not afraid of putting in the extra work.

“He is always asking for extra rounds during practice. Motivates his teammates in the practice room and during matches,” said Fuller.

Another positive influence on the team is Eli Montgomery. Montgomery is consistent with his support of the team and his teammates. His continued work on the mat has inspired many of his teammates and coaches. Several tournaments dot the schedule this season including the Chuck West tournament in Bristow, the Larry Wilkey tournament at Jenks, and the Broken Arrow tournament. Sapulpa will host the Jerry Billings tournament on January 17th-18th. Dual state is set for February 14th and regionals are scheduled for February 21st-22nd. The state tournament is the following week.
