It’s a familiar story in Eastern Oklahoma. A young kid grows up playing sports in his hometown and dreams of playing at the varsity level. That describes hundreds of kids in the Tulsa area including Brooks Dixon from Bixby.
Now a senior, Dixon started playing football at a young age and has made some great memories over the years.
“I started playing football in 1st grade at Bixby,” Dixon said. “My favorite moment was winning the state championship last year.”
Dixon believes in the Spartan way and what it means to play at BHS.
“The team aspect is unlike anywhere else. I get along great with everyone,” said Dixon.
The culture and atmosphere at BHS are something Dixon loves and competing with his teammates is what it’s all about. The different personalities make it fun for Dixon.
“Bode Cairl keeps the team laughing. Cord Nolan is pretty serious. Braeden Presley, he has stepped up huge and really improved his game at corner,” said Dixon.
Before a game, Dixon said he prepares himself by remembering his assignments.
“I make sure I focus on the little things before the game. Make sure I know all my assignments,” said Dixon.
In the classroom, Dixon said his favorite subject is math and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Williams. Dixon is undecided on what school he would like to attend after graduation, but said he wants a degree in business.
