Senior Spotlight with Hudson Beckley – Presented by Rib Crib

Broken Arrow High School senior Hudson Beckley started wrestling at the age of 7. Currently he is wrestling at 126-pounds for the Tigers and said he’s continued to work hard to improve his skills for the team this season.

“I would say my biggest strength is leg-riding, and my biggest improvement this year is my leg attacks,” said Beckley.

Preparing to compete is different for everyone. Beckley said he likes to keep a clear head and visualize how is match will go.

“I focus on what I need to get done and how to do it. I love listening to music to get in the zone but I’m visualizing myself wrestling while I’m warming up so I know what I’m going to do as soon as the whistle blows,” said Beckley.

Competing with his teammates and building those bonds is something Beckley enjoys about being a Tiger.

“This year more than ever there’s a bond that we have as we compete and train together. Hands down I would have to say Kadence Roop; he’s been the wrestler I looked up to most since I started wrestling at Broken Arrow,” Beckley said. “I’d say the guy who keeps everyone laughing would be Gunner Wilson; the most serious is probably Jake Miller.”

Off the mat, Beckley said he’s inspired by his parents.

“My parents. My dad coached me since I started wrestling and even though he can’t coach me in high school now him and my mom support me at everything they can make it to,” said Beckley.

Beckley said one of his biggest accomplishments was placing at state. “I still have one more shot but as of now the memory of placing last year still feels amazing every time, I think about it.”
