BISHOP KELLEY COMETS

Coach: JJ TAPPANA

5-6

OFFENSE

The Comet offense returns a lot of experience in the run game and on the offensive line. Head coach JJ Tappana is looking forward to seeing what this group can accomplish on the ground. “Returning starters Enzo Garcia-Pham returning at center, Joe Huber and Mac Conroy on the left side of the line, John Galbreath, Gabe Sherril, Lars Frette and Ried Myers competing for remaining spots on the right side, all returning with experience. And a very talented sophomore Jack Rhem, that should push to take a spot,” said coach Tappana.

Max Gipson (5-11, 165) will start at QB with Gavin Nichols and Corey Colbert at the running back spot. RJ Woody and his brother Wes Woody (So.) will play wide receiver with Carsen Thompson at the slot and sophomores Carsen Brown and Lucas Goodman working to find time on the field. “We feel like we have a good receiving crew. Several guys are competing for the TE spot including Rex Ritzhaupt and others,” said coach Tappana.

DEFENSE

“Defensively we have some spots to fill but with Beckett Jackson returning to hold down our OLB spot, and Alec Frisillo and Trevor Gabel working at ILB, Josh Phillips on the defensive line and Lars Frette we feel like we have the start of a good defensive box,” said coach Tappana. The secondary will have several people rotating in to fill up those spots. The Woody brothers, Carsen Thompson, Gavin Nichols, Corey Colbert and several underclassmen looking to win a starting spot. The kicking game will be strong with Owen Govier who could be one of the best kickers from Kelley in a while. He has a strong leg and has potential to have a huge impact in each game.
