Bishop Kelley’s Jasel Bailey Athlete Spotlight Presented by Genesis Health Club

Jasel Bailey

Bishop Kelley

No.1 singles player for Bishop Kelley is not only a senior in her final year of prep tennis, but she is a member of the athletic leadership council and is headed to Washburn University next year.

“I have loved participating in varsity athletics at Bishop Kelley all four years because of my terrific coaches. After I graduate, I am looking forward to continuing my athletic and academic career at Washburn University,” said Bailey.

The senior has played tennis since the age of three thanks to her mother being a tennis coach, Bailey fell in love with the sport at a young age.

“With my mom being a tennis coach tennis has always been such an important part of my life,” said Bailey.

Bailey is not afraid to put in the work it takes to be one of the top players in her class.

“With the help of my coaches Camilo Sabogal and Celeste Frey I have been working on point structure. They help me to know how to put all of my tools to use in a strategical way, I would not be the player I am today without them,” said Bailey. “Genesis offers me the opportunity to improve every time I step on the court. The part I love most about Genesis is the friendships I have built with the girls I have been blessed to grow up with.”

Bailey finds inspiration in her teammates as well.

“My teammates inspire me to be a better player. When I see how passionate they are about the sport it makes me want to be better.”

As a team, Kelley has a few new faces, but Bailey is excited to see what they can do this year. “This season, we have a lot of new players. I am excited to see their potential, and how they compete in this unique environment,” said Bailey.
