Cascia Hall volleyball player Aryn Gammill has built her game and her identity around consistency, confidence and the relationships that surround her on and off the court. A close-knit varsity squad and a supportive family have helped shape the way she approaches competition and leadership for the Commandos.
Gammill said the best part of playing at Cascia Hall is the bond she shares with her teammates, noting that the group stays connected from the locker room to the court and beyond. The team’s chemistry shows up in the way they support each other and enjoy spending time together outside of matches and practices, which creates an environment where players can push hard and still have fun. That atmosphere is a foundation for how she competes.
Volleyball has been part of Gammill’s life for seven years, giving her plenty of time to learn the demands of her position. She pointed to the challenge of always “staying consistent” and confident on the floor, an expectation that comes with playing at a high level in the varsity lineup. That focus on reliability fits with her broader mindset: she does not shy away from a challenge and is willing to put in the work required to succeed.
Her parents play a central role in that approach. Gammill said, “they inspire me most because they have always believed in me and sacrificed to help me reach this point in my athletic career.” Their confidence has reinforced her own, serving as a reminder to stay committed and maintain high standards in volleyball and in the classroom. Representing Cascia Hall also carries meaning for her because the school’s core values align with her personal beliefs, making it special each time she wears the uniform.
The offseason has been busy, blending preparation and time with friends. This summer, Gammill has split her days between weights, club volleyball and basketball team camps while still making room for her social life. She sees last season as a lesson in how hard work, determination and a positive attitude, combined with the support of her coaches, can lead to success on and off the court. Those experiences shape her goals for the upcoming schedule.
Individually, Gammill is focused on sharpening her footwork in all areas of the game and continuing to grow as a leader. She credits teammate and friend Kennedy Welsh with leaving a strong impression on her, saying Welsh’s determination has been with her every step and pushes her to improve daily. Looking ahead, Gammill plans to attend college and major in either pre-med or finance, carrying the same drive and resilience from Cascia Hall volleyball into the next phase of her life.
