HOLLAND HALL DUTCH
Coach: BRIAN THOMPSON
7-5
OFFENSE
What’s better than a Friday night and some Dutch football? Head coach Brian Thompson and his staff are working hard to prepare for the upcoming season that will pit the Dutch against another tough schedule in district 3A-3. “Coming off 7-5 season and second round of playoffs, we graduated some talented seniors. However, we are excited about our juniors and sophomores coming up. We have some experienced skill players and linemen who can hopefully contribute to a successful season,” said coach Thompson. Quarterback Trey Burleson (6-0, 180, Sr.) threw for 1,482 yards on 84 completions with 15 TDs and he rushed for 328 yards and six scores. Burleson is key in the single back spread the Dutch will employ. Look for Kainon Gibson (5-11, 175, Sr.) to play a major role in the passing game. Gibson made 23 receptions for 437 yards and five touchdowns last year and is a VYPE Top 100 selectee. Tailback Rhett Gibson (5-10, 175, Jr.) had 144 carries for 650 yards and six scores of his own as a sophomore. The Gibson and Gibson tandem will help shoulder the load on offense. Up front the Dutch feature Ames Wheeler (6-1, 230, Sr.) who will likely play both ways alongside another durable lineman in Hunter Collier (6-3, 230, Sr.).

DEFENSE
Collier was stellar on defense accounting for 55 tackles and six sacks. Ten of the tackles were for a loss. “Plays almost every down for us and is on both sides of the ball. Tough and smart player,” said coach Thompson. Coming back from an injury that sidelined him for the season is linebacker Bryce Kueser (6-1, 190, Sr.). Kueser is a sideline-to-sideline linebacker who can also help the offense at tight end. Another physical player is outside linebacker Henry Hill (5-10, 170, Sr.). Hill grabbed 57 tackles and seven sacks last season with nine of those as tackles for a loss. Donald Clark (5-10, 175, Sr.) had 30 tackles from his spot in the secondary which he will occupy again this season. Clark can shift to the offensive side of the ball and help out at WR. Look for Kainon Gibson to play a key role as a kick returner for the Dutch. With his speed and elusiveness, Gibson will be tough to handle on special teams. The coaching staff consists of Brian Underwood, Steve Dyer, Chance Clements, Carlisle Mabrey, Jason Collier, Bryan Burnham, Will Wright, Tre Carter, and Jim Mansfield.
