Holland Hall Dutch – Football Team Preview – Presented by Mabrey Bank

HOLLAND HALL DUTCH

Coach: BRIAN THOMPSON

10-2

Holland Hall comes into 2026–27 off a 10-2 season but with several holes to fill after graduating a strong senior class. Head coach Brian Thompson, in his 29th year at the school, says the Dutch will rely on talented seniors who must play more snaps on both sides of the ball, as well as underclassmen stepping into bigger roles. The staff includes assistants Will Wright, Cooper Gross, Brian Underwood, Justin Butler, Bryan Burnham, Nick Jones, Tre Carter and Jason Collier, giving the program deep experience on the sideline. Thompson is “looking forward to seeing how they respond” as players adjust to increased responsibility.

Offensively, Holland Hall returns four starters and runs a spread attack that strives to stay balanced. Senior receiver Kaysen Fredieu is a headliner after catching 31 passes for 710 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 22 yards per reception. Senior receiver Roman Lepak added 11 receptions for 190 yards and two scores, and senior running back/defensive back Rhett Gibson is another key weapon. Senior lineman Louie Culley (OL/DL) provides experience in the trenches, while senior tight end/linebacker Hudson Short is an important two-way contributor. The Dutch aim to distribute the ball to multiple playmakers while maintaining run-pass balance.

Defensively, Holland Hall returns five starters and bases out of a 3-5 look built on getting to the football. Gibson, Fredieu and Lepak all play prominent roles in the defensive backfield, joined by fellow senior Trip Reynolds and senior linebacker/tight end Short. Junior James Jones rounds out the top defensive group and is highlighted as someone who controls the middle of the field. Jones is also the underclassman to watch, starting on both sides of the ball and capable of lining up at running back, quarterback, tight end and receiver on offense. Fredieu is Holland Hall’s Top 100 nominee, described as a “dynamic player on both sides of the ball,” a great cover corner on defense and a team leader. Blayze Buchanan is praised as a great athlete who contributes on defense and special teams and is also a state champion track athlete; Thompson emphasizes his character, discipline and unselfish attitude as his best traits.
