Metro Christian’s Addy Meyers
You would be hard-pressed to find a high school senior more prepared for life after high school than Addy Meyers of Metro Christian. A varsity soccer player, Meyers is the Class of 2025 Salutatorian and president of National Honor Society as well as the founder of the Future Health Professionals Club at Metro Christian. If that wasn’t enough to impress you, the senior is a member of National Art Honor Society, FCA, Student Council, Model UN, Art Club and the Chess Club.
Meyers said when she is around her teammates, there is never a dull moment.
“The thing I love most about my teammates is that they are consistently joyful, even in the face of adversity. But even though we can all laugh together and just enjoy the sport we love; we know how to work hard in order to prepare for the big games ahead,” said Meyers.
Playing center-back allows Meyers to run the defense while communicating to her teammates.
“I am responsible for knowing where every player is in proximity to our goal, and I am responsible for communicating what our goalie sees to the entire field. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s a lot of responsibility. Seeing the whole field gives me a very unique perspective,” Meyers said. “I think my biggest strengths are my aggression in challenges and my ability to organize the back line. I play with intensity; I’m not afraid to step in and win tackles. At the same time, I’m constantly communicating with the back line and our keeper to point out flaws in the opponent’s tactics so we can create a better plan of attack. I think the thing I have improved on the most is adapting my style of play to our opponent. I used to have a very rigid style of play, but as I have grown as a defender, I have been able to understand when to be more aggressive or when to play more relaxed.
Meyers said Metro Christian is a great place thanks to the caring environment and the dedicated teachers. She also mentioned a teammate, Andrea Haveman who has impressed her this season with her quiet leadership and humility. Meyers is headed to Texas Christian University next fall.
