Bo Bayles – Regent Prep
Recent John Brown University signee Bo Bayles is entering his final season at Regent Prep where he hopes his last hoorah is his best.
“My goal is to dominate the court this school season, to place first at state and help my team get on the podium,” said Bayles.
The senior started his tennis journey when he was in the eighth grade and in just a few short years, Bayles has developed into one of the top players in the state. The senior gives credit to the people and places who has trained him, which includes training at Genesis.
“I have been able to develop a great relationship with every coach, and there are so many great coaches and players that push me to improve. Camilo Sabogal has been my private coach for several years and has taught me so much and helped me improve every part of my game,” Bayles said. “I’ve been training at Philcrest and taking lessons there from Bryan Dick. He has helped improve my game a lot.”
This collaborative effort has help develop one of the top players at any level in Oklahoma. Bayles said his training at Genesis has helped him become a more cerebral player.“I have trained hard to be more explosive and have worked on taking advantage of the point straight away by a strong serve and plus one,” Bayles said. “Genesis has helped me learn how to strategize on court and has helped improve my technique for every stroke I hit on every part of the court.”
After this season is in the books, Bayles will turn his attention to the next chapter in his life, which is attending college and competing at the next level.
“I will be attending John Brown University to play tennis and study psychology. After college I plan to pursue a master’s in counseling and theology, then serve as a missionary overseas, sharing the good news of the gospel,” said Bayles.
