Regent Prep’s Caleb McNeil – Football Spotlight – Presented by Huntington Learning Center

Regent Prep’s Caleb McNeil

If you get a chance to watch Regent Prep play football, you’re likely to see Caleb McNeil make a play as a wide receiver on offense or cornerback on defense. While football is a passion for McNeil, he does devote some of his time to other interests.

“I am in Beta Club, which is a community service club. I am in STUCO as well,” said McNeil.

In the classroom, McNeil said he enjoys his classes and teachers, but he does have his favorites.

“My favorite teacher at Regent is Mr. Pope who taught me French my sophomore year. He is very engaging and enthusiastic about what he teaches. I have him for aesthetics elective this year and it’s often the highlight of my day,” McNeil said. “Regent is special to me because they have a high bar and like all good things you have to work hard to achieve your goals and they teach that well.”

McNeil has been friends with many of his teammates since the 2nd grade. It’s a competitive group and McNeil said he’s been inspired by their play.

“Upperclassmen have always been extremely encouraging and up lifting. One especially that comes to mind is Tucker Phillips who graduated last year. He led by example and by the effort he put in on the field,” McNeil said. “Someone who inspires me in football is Inky Johnson. I listen to one of his messages before almost every game. He talks about living out what you believe and how to put things in perspective when God has a different plan then what you thought or want.”

To ensure he is ready for the ACT test, McNeil said he attended an ACT prep class at Huntington Learning Center.

“I took act prep at Huntington this summer and it was very beneficial. It’s similar to football in that you have to put in the practice if you want a good result,” McNeil said. “I plan on attending Baylor University next year to study business.”
