VICTORY CHRISTIAN CONQUERORS
GIRLS
Coach: Jeff Farquhar
23-24 Record: 13-16
OUTLOOK
The nucleus for the Lady Conquerors is intact and the experience level has improved as head coach Jeff Farquhar looks to get his team back into postseason play.
“We are coming off a strong run in the playoffs, missing a berth to the state tournament in an area consolation final loss to Alva this past season. The Lady Conquerors will look to build momentum for another strong finish to get one step further this season,” said Farquhar.
Three players are back from coach Farquhar’s first season at the helm. That group includes point guard Sarahi Beltran (5-4, Sr.), power forward Canadee Farquhar (5-8, Sr.), and shooting guard Eden Edwards (5-7, Jr.). Beltran averaged around 5.0 points a game last season, but coach Farquhar said she will likely double that output this season.
“ ”Shooting guard Brooke Bettis (5-7, Sr.) transfers in from Union High School and by all accounts, has enjoyed a productive summer. Bettis averaged 12-15 points a game and is expected to be one of the leading scorers this season. Other players to watch in the rotation include Trinity Cato (5-7, Sr.), Hannah Rainey (5-9, Jr.), Glory Lambert (5-6, So.) and Valerie Courtney (6-0, So.). Freshmen Sophia Beltran (5-7), Riley Johnston (5-6), and Simi Adeyemi (5-8) will push for roles and provide added depth to the Victory roster. Also look for Hannah Albaugh (5-8, So.), Sharon Daniels (5-9, Fr.), and Harper Gwartney (5-6, Fr.) to continue pushing the starters as they stay ready for their numbers to be called.
