Victory Christian’s Dallas Dyer
As Dallas Dyer of Victory Christian School steps onto the field, his focus is unlike any other. Dyer knows what a privilege it is to be on the field and competing with his teammates. Last season Dyer suffered an injury that placed him on the sideline. His return to the sport was questionable, but through the support of family and friends and hard work, Dyer is back and as good as ever.
“My recovery is faster than what my surgeons and doctors had originally predicted. I had a lot of support through it as well and that’s definitely made a big impact. My new head coach RJ Wakley, he’s been super supportive throughout the whole thing, my trainers Jevon Bowman and Michael Drach, both of them have helped me get back to the player I was before the injury but more importantly, helped me become a better player throughout the whole recovery, My mom and dad, they’ve been side by side with me throughout this entire process, I would not be where I am without them,” said Dyer.
With the injury behind him, Dyer is looking forward to the upcoming season and setting goals for the team and himself.
“Some of my goals for the team is to show people a comeback, a lot of people have already said and decided that Victory Christian isn’t going to have a good season. I just want to prove them all wrong,” Dyer said. “Some of my personal goals for this year is to rush for 2,000 yards and hit 20 touchdowns. Another goal of mine is leadership, it’s something I’m working on building right now this offseason.”
Dyer said he loves playing running back and the feeling you get when you break into open field, but Dyer can help the Conquerors at receiver.
“Besides playing running back, I can also play a little slot receiver, and when needed I can play a little defensive secondary like a safety…. I just love playing football all together,” said Dyer.
During spring ball and team camp, Dyer said several of his teammates have stepped up and are looking great. While Dyer has continued to work on his game, he said several teammates are players to watch this season.
“Watching how we played and performed during our spring ball and our team camps, it’s not going to be what people were expecting… we’re gonna come out each week and put on a show. Some guys to be watching are Ethan Aeschleman (Sr. ATH), Sum Hoih (Sr. DB) Scottie Johnson (Jr. WR), Tyler Wilson (Jr. OL), Eli Dyer (Jr. DB), Brandon Flowers (So. QB) and Maceo Miller (So. QB),” said Dyer.
The philosophy is one game at a time, but Dyer admits he is looking forward to playing on particular game early in the season.
“The game I’m looking forward to playing is going to be week 2, Holland Hall. This will be my first game back from injury last season. I will most likely be out for week 1 versus Lincoln Christian, so that next week is definitely something I’m looking forward to,” said Dyer.
Dyer said his source of inspiration comes from his mother and father.
“Both of them played D1 sports in college and now both work incredibly hard to be able to put my brother and I in the positions we are in today. Another is my grandpa, he’s the strongest faith believer I’ve ever seen or met, his work ethic is incredible, and he is willing to go out of his way anytime to help anyone that needs it,” said Dyer.
As for his plans after high school? Dyer is looking to follow in his parent’s footsteps.
“After I graduate and after this senior season, I plan on playing college football, I’m still undecided on where I’ll be committing to. I want to play for as long as I can and then after that go play at an even higher level,” said Dyer.
