2025 Pryor Football Preview – Presented by Rhett Minson, State Farm

PRYOR TIGERS

Coach: KENNY DAVIS

8-4

OFFENSE

Continuity is important when a coach is at the helm of a program for a few years. For head coach Kenny Davis, the Pryor Tiger football team has responded well to his philosophy by stepping up and winning games. Coming into the 2025 season, expectations are growing for the Tigers, and they look ready to accept the challenge. “We have a lot of returning starters off of a team that was one point away from the semifinals. A lot of our guys are multi-year starters, and I’m excited to see how they step up and lead this team. We open up a new stadium this season and the expectations of our players, coaches, and community are high,” said coach Davis. Someone the Tiger faithful will love to see on the field is Braden Ward (6-1, 180, Sr.). Ward is the starting quarterback for the Tigers and a VYPE Top 100 selectee. Last season he threw for 2,797 yards with 35 TDs and added 587 yards rushing and 11 TDs. His production is crucial to the success of the team. His accurate passing will find a plethora of wide receivers including Brock Ward (5-11, 185, Sr.), Gavin Roberts (6-0, 180, Sr.), Kaden Rice (5-10, 185. Sr.), and Jackson Parks (6-2, 200, Jr.). Ward notched 895 yards receiving with 12 TDs, while Roberts accounted for 661 yards and 11TDs. Rice recorded 407 yards and five touchdowns and Parks had 335 yards and a score as a sophomore. The offensive line is controlled by Nathen Hansbrough (6-2, 270, Sr.). Hansbrough will have some help two-way starter Mason “Big Mac” McAlvain (6-3, 330, Jr.).

DEFENSE

McAlvain is a terror on defense. Last season he accounted for 39 tackles, forced three fumbles and made two fumble recoveries from his noseguard position. Big Mac has been called a “freakishly athletic big man and very disruptive on defense.” McAlvain joins Braden Ward as a VYPE Top 100 selectee. The secondary features Gage Lefrere (6-0, 170, So.) who started every game as a freshman. Lefrere made 42 tackles with five INTs. Considered a lock-down corner, Lefrere will likely see time on offense and special teams. Brock Ward will play safety where his 48 tackles and two INTs are a big part of the overall success of the defense. Linebacker Stetson Matheson (6-1, 200, Sr.) was stellar last season with 107 tackles and two sacks on the season. Matheson is an attacking linebacker who does not shy away from physical play. A pair of defensive ends will set the edge in Justin Pryor (6-0, 220, Sr.) and Aiden Wolfe (6-0, 250, Sr.). Pryor made 43 tackles, one sack and forced three fumbles while Wolfe accounted for 19 tackles. Also look for Tyler Belew (So.) to have a breakout season after suffering a season ending injury as a freshman. Belew is the younger brother to Bobby Belew who is the All-Time leading receiver at PHS and an All-State player.
