Coach: JUSTIN MORSEY

OFFENSE
Coach Justin Morsey takes over the Cardinal football program after the team was winless last season. Morsey, alongside his staff which consists of Ron Fuller, Jeremy Gray, Zach Gray, Mike Gregory and Bobby Jones are looking forward to having a healthy team that is hungry to prove they can compete with anyone. “Looking to bounce back from an injury plagued season. Because of those injuries we are returning 12 different starters on offense and 11 on defense,” said coach Morsey. Peyton Stelling (6-0, 185, Jr.) is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and someone who will help this team on both sides of the ball. Stelling is a physical running back that works well in the spread offense. He can move the chains between the tackles or out on the edge. Hunter Attaway (6-0, 165, So.) and Braxton Dean (5-10, 170, Jr.) are two receivers capable of having big nights. Expect the duo to play a major role in the overall success of the team this season. Attaway can play multiple positions including quarterback. Also look for Dawson Shanholtzer (6-2, 255, Jr.) to anchor the offensive line.
DEFENSE
The secondary will feature Stelling at safety and Attaway at one of the corner spots. Stelling has the speed play man or zone with the physicality to stop running backs at the line of scrimmage. Look for Attaway to be a factor at corner and has the athleticism to play zone and cover a lot of ground. Jake Patterson (6-2, 175, Jr.) joins this salty secondary giving the Cardinals another player who can make plays and help stop the run. Defensive end Will Rogers (6-0, 215, Sr.) will attack from the edge and make life difficult for opposing QBs. A pair of linebackers in Charter Zeimet (5-11, 195, Jr.) and Tate Roller (6-1, 200, Jr.) are two hard-hitting backers with an old school mentality. Their physical play will help set the tone for the Cardinal defense. Look for Verdigris is stick with the 4-2-5. “We will be an attacking front with lots of pressures and movements,” said coach Morsey.
