OUTLOOK
Changes abound for the Lady Zebras entering the 2024-25 season. Lynn Roper takes over as head coach and is looking to create an atmosphere conducive to winning.
“New coaching staff and a few new players hoping to return Claremore to a winning culture. We are looking to improve on the court in the win column and be a competitive program,” said coach Roper.
Along with a new staff, several new faces will dot the lineup for the Zebras. Grace Waters (Jr.) and Emersen McKinney (So.) make their way to the team from Verdigris, while Addison Doyle (So.) arrives from Oologah. Waters was a big contributor for Verdigris last season and Doyle brings athleticism to the court.
“ ”A pair of sisters also made their way to Claremore this year in former Memorial players Asia and Autumn Roper. Both are juniors and standout players. Asia was named 3rd Team All-District last season while Autumn came into her own as a major contributor on both ends of the floor.
Graduation took its toll on Claremore, leaving several young players in the program that have high expectations in helping turn things around. Libbie Jones (Jr.), Riley Fay (So.), Addison Reavis (So.) Audrey Shaw (So.), Bella Weaver (Fr.), and Hannah Joslin (Fr.) are all expected to have solid seasons. The lone senior is Toney Gibson. Gibson will be a leader on and off the court for the Zebras as coach Roper looks to grow a winning attitude and culture within the Zebra program.
“We want to return to the days when Claremore Girls Basketball was a powerhouse program,” said Roper.
