Claremore’s Lex Clark
Claremore High School senior Lex Clark sees his role on the Zebras’ offensive line as an extension of his faith in Christ.
“You aren’t called to glorify yourself. You’re called to do your duty, what’s asked of you,” King said. “You serve others, and it is why I love being a lineman.”
Clark’s football career began in the fifth grade via the urging of his older brothers, Rex and Alex.
“Creative, I know,” Clark said, jokingly. “My brothers pushed me to stay in sports and trained me. Alex was a coach at one point and gave me everything I needed to play football.”
Clark, who also throws shot for the CHS track team and participates in student council, FCA and biomedical club, continued to grow in the game and physically, but something was missing.
“The greatest challenge I have faced in my athletic career was my own self-confidence,” Clark said. “I overcame it through strengthening my faith in the Lord and accepting that I am chosen for my position and my purpose because of who I am.”
While Alex helped Clark reach his potential on the gridiron, Rex helped lead him deeper into his faith.
“Rex has been there constantly, sacrificing his time to help teach me the Lord’s word,” Clark said. He continues to push me to grow in my faith.”
Lex Clark is undoubtedly a mix of both influences. Without his brothers, Clark wouldn’t have become the person and athlete he is today.
As he approaches a promising senior season of protecting the backfield, guiding his teammates spiritually and representing the community of Claremore on Friday nights one last time, Clark believes the Zebras have all the necessary tools to make a run in November.
“My expectations this season are having a winning record, being the best leader, I can be and mentoring the next class,” the CHS offensive tackle said.
