Claremore’s Teegan Mann

By Trina Walker

Basketball and family are two of the most important things in Teegan Mann’s life. His family instilled confidence in him which carries over to how he plays on the court and the kind of athlete he is.

“Basketball gives me a sense of purpose and allows me to grow as a person,” he says.

Teegan is a senior at Claremore High School. Basketball taught him the importance of hard work and consistency. He plays point guard and shooting guard.

“My favorite part of my position is being able to score and get my teammates involved in the offense,” he says.

One of Teegan’s biggest accomplishments was starting on the varsity team as a freshman. Being a young starter has given him real-time game experience that is hard to learn from practice alone. Teegan models his game after the pro player he most admires. He looks up to Steph Curry and the way he carries himself on and off the court.

“I started playing basketball in kindergarten with Claremore Optimist basketball. I have always enjoyed watching basketball and thought that I could be good at it,” he said.

Today Teegan enjoys being an influence on the younger kids as he represents CHS as a student-athlete. Building relationships and creating memories is another aspect he loves about being on a team. The teammate who left the biggest impression on Teegan is Parker Hardage.

“He has shown me how to always be nice to people and the importance of hard work,” he said.

Family inspires Teegan. He wants to shoutout to them for all the support they give him. Teegan’s favorite teacher also happens to be his mom. She is better known as Mrs. Mann during school hours.

“She is constantly there for me and has taught me to be kind no matter what,” he says.

Someday Teegan would love to travel to Italy with his family. Until that day comes, he can be found perfecting his skills on the court. Whether he is playing basketball or enjoying time with his family, he remembers this advice.

“Always be present and enjoy the moment.”
