OUTLOOK
Coach Mikail Lovett takes over the KIPP Tulsa girls basketball program with key players returning which includes two starters.
“We will be a young, but plenty of talent returns. There are two returning starters, Mackenzie Lovett and Cam’reigh Hammon. These two are amongst the best guards in Class 3A. If they can lead like expected, we should surprise some people,” said Lovett.
“ ”Cam’reigh Hammon (5-6, So.) is an exciting young guard who averaged 12 points a game with 4.0 assists. Alongside Mackenzie Lovett (5-7, Sr.), a guard who averaged 9.7 points and 5.0 rebounds, this tandem of guard will be tough to stop this season. Hammon is considered to be one of the best guards in the 2027 class, while Lovett can hold her on against anyone she will face this season. Lovett has five offers to play basketball at the next level.
Several sophomores will see time on the court this season including Zowie Blackshire (5-7, So.), Janaye Coleman (5-3, So.), and Claire Espinola (5-8, So.). Senior Shaniah Edwards (5-7) brings experience to the floor while newcomer Kailynn Scyffore (5-10, Fr.) will look for some time at forward. Several players will step into starting roles this season for the first time in their varsity careers.
Other players to watch include J’nya Glass (5-2, So.), Kennedy Johnson (5-5, So.), and Syesha Austin (5-9, Fr.). Follow the KIPP Tulsa girls on their social media pages @BasketballKtup on X and @KIPPTULSA.LBB on Instagram.
