Q&A with Verdigris’ Jackie Beauchamp – Basketball Spotlight

Verdigris’ Jackie Beauchamp

VYPE: Jackie, what grade are you in and what position are you playing this year?

Jackie Beauchamp: I am a sophomore at Verdigris, and I play everywhere but mostly guard.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?

JB: We have fun together. We laugh, hang out, enjoy being around each other, work together, and we push each other to be better.

VYPE: Which teammate always impresses you the most or do you have a former teammate who left an impression on you?

JB: The entire sophomore group has left an impression on me because most all of us have played together for a long time and always push each other to get better. It is impressive to me how young we are as a team, and we still find ways to have good practices.

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life on or off the court?

JB: Coach Buntin has been my biggest influence on the court. He has helped me become a better player by challenging me to be the best I can be. Off the court is my dad because he always has something to say.

VYPE: What part of your game is most improved coming into this season?

JB: Talking. I speak up more on the court because I have gotten out of my comfort zone.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite place to play and what is the toughest gym to play in on the road?

JB: My favorite place to play is the VAC (Verdigris Activity Center). The toughest gym has probably been the BOK Center during the Tournament of Champions.

VYPE: Do you belong to any clubs or groups at school?

JB: Choir, basketball, golf, track, and weightlifting.

VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and do you have a favorite teacher?

JB: Athletics is my favorite subject, but I also enjoy Biology and English. My favorite teacher is coach Luellen.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

JB: In the summer I like to go to the lake. I also like to go to the gym and the golf course as well as cooking and baking.
