9 Questions with Bixby’s Keirsten Tupman – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: What was this season like for you personally?
Tupman: This season was a challenging yet very rewarding. I added a new event mid-season but it push me to try something out of my comfort zone and it let me to be part of a new school record.

VYPE: What area do you feel you most improved?
Tupman: My area that was most improved was my attitude towards myself. I am more patient with myself and make those days where I’m not doing as well as I like to be days where I learn more about what my body’s telling me rather than beat myself down.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
Tupman: What I love most about my teammates is how they are always pushing everyone to be better, how caring they are and how they run for the team. I am so incredibly proud of all my teammates and how far they have come. They definitely have changed my life and mentality and I couldn’t be more grateful to have met the girls I have met.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite moment from this season?
Tupman: My favorite moment from this season was beating the school record in the 4×400 and 4×800. We all pushed our self to the maximum, and it was so worth it.

VYPE: What grade are you in this year?
Tupman: I’m in sophomore year, going into junior year. VYPE: How long have you competed in track? Tupman: I’ve been competing in track for three years.

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?
Tupman: I would like to go to college and become an EMT.

VYPE: What will the team look like next year?
Tupman: The team will look really good next year as well. We will have really strong incoming freshman and sophomores. The track community is growing, and Coach Eckert and Coach Behrens deserve the credit for growing this track program.

VYPE: What’s your message to your teammates and coaches
Tupman: My message to my coaches and teammates. I am so incredibly proud of you all words can’t even describe. My coaches have helped me push on days where I feel like I can’t, my teammates have helped me run not just to run, but to run and push my body to the maximum levels I can run. My teammates and coaches always have each other’s backs and I seriously can’t imagine myself in another track program other than Bixby High School Track. This team is family to me, and I thank God every day that I was able to meet such incredible people.
