Cascia Hall’s Lorelai Efaw – Golf Spotlight – Presented by RainTech Roofing

Lorelai Efaw – Cascia Hall Preparatory School

Dad often gives the best advice. This is true for Lorelai Efaw at Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa. “My father frequently tells me that golf is just like life. You have to manage the ups and downs,” she says.

Learning to persevere is the best lesson she learned by playing golf. “You can hit a great shot in golf and end up with a challenging lie, but you have to stay calm and hit the next shot even when you are unhappy with the original outcome.

“I am passionate about golf because it allows me to set goals and measure my growth. I can see myself progress over the years through my scores and stats like average drive distance. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to see how far I have come since I started playing,” she said.

Lorelai was five when she took her first group lesson. “No matter how many times I missed hitting the ball, I just kept trying. I refused to give up and immediately fell in love with the sport. After one summer of group lessons, I started playing competitive tournaments,” she said.

Now a freshman, she has already experienced the state tournament where she shot her personal best of a 70 on the first day. At the end of day two her team placed fifth and Lorelai placed third.

“My best friend, Megan Kalapura, was waiting for me in the clubhouse and ended up winning the tournament. While we waited for the final scores to come in, we celebrated both our great tournaments and my 15th birthday which happened to land on the final day of the tournament,” she said.

Lorelai thanks her family. “You have supported and encouraged me my whole life. My little sister, Liezel, has had to come watch a lot of my tournaments. I would also like to thank all my coaches who have helped me become the player I am,” she says.

Outside of school, Lorelai volunteers with National Charity League and cheers for her little sister who is a competitive baton twirler.
