VICTORY CHRISTIAN CONQUERORS
Coach: BRETT SMITH
10-3
OFFENSE
Enter his third season as head coach, fifth overall, Brett Smith will lean on senior leadership and a group of returning starters to lead the Conquerors this season. “Victory brings back a solid core of skill players and linemen. Led by senior and four-year starter Jaye Robinson. Eric Peterson is both an RB and WR scoring multiple TDs in the air and on the ground while filling in for injured Dallas Dyer who missed six games. Senior Cooper Howell will anchor the defense,” said Smith. The high-powered offense features guys like Dallas Dyer (5-11, 190, Jr.) who had 78 carries for 625 yards, averaging 8.1 per carry. Dyer’s production is huge for the offense. Jackson McCrary (6-1, 205, Jr.) will see time at RB and WR. Last season McCrary made 31 receptions for 270 yards and three TDs. Another multi-purpose player is Eric Peterson (5-8, 165, Sr.), who like McCrary, will play WR and RB. Peterson made 31 catches for 484 yards with four scores and added 340 yards on 59 carries and three TDs. Ward Johnson (5-9, 160, Jr.) is another solid route runner who made 23 receptions for 345 yards. Last season the Victory offense put up more than 6,000 yards of offense and 79 TDs making them one of the more prolific offenses in Oklahoma High School history. Guys like Jaye Robinson (6-1, 285, Sr.) are the unsung heroes of the offense. Coach Smith mentioned Robinson as a leader on the field and in the locker room.
DEFENSE
With eight returning starters, the defense may not miss a beat. New defensive coordinator Trace Linn comes to Victory via Booker T. Washington. Expect Victory to disguise coverages and keep opposing QBs guessing. Cooper Howell (6-2, 235, Sr.) has multiple college offers and is known as a human missile. Last season he made 67 tackles, two sacks, two INTs, and 12 TFLs. Another strength for the Conquerors will come up front on the defensive line. Robinson will go both ways and is a force on defense. Robinson made 32 tackles, three sacks and eight TFLs last season. Elijah Childress (5-11, 240, Sr.), another defensive tackle, made 31 tackles, two sacks, and six TFLs as a junior. Peterson’s athleticism will find its way to the defensive side of the ball where he will play in the secondary. Last year as a junior, Peterson made 31 tackles with one INT and one defensive TD. The coaching staff consists of Dustin Cherry (Asst. HC/OC), Trace Linn (DC/DL), Ramon Bonner (WR/DB), RJ Wakley (QB), Simon Richardson (RB), Caleb Edwards (OL/DB), Houston Hogan (LB/OL), and James Doctor (Trainer/Tech).
