OFFENSE

The Dutch look to continue their winning ways under head coach Brian Thompson. Coming into the new season, Thompson said the team has good numbers and a good mix of talent and experience. “We have been a fairly young team the last couple of years. We now have quite a few players who have seen quite a bit of playing time. Hopefully, that experience will translate in to a competitive and disciplined team this season,” said Thompson. Kainon Gibson (Jr.) will start at WR and DB this season. Gibson has proven to be one of the best players on the team and is ready for his junior season. Gibson isn’t the only weapon on offense. Rhett Gibson (So.) will handle the running duties this season while Weston Brookhart (Sr.) will see time at WR and QB. Speaking of QB, Trey Burleson (Jr.) will likely start at quarterback and switch out with Brookhart depending on the situation. Tight end Matthew Underwood (Sr.) is a nice target in the passing game. Look for Luke Beeler (Sr.) to help younger offensive linemen mature into their starting roles.

DEFENSE

For the Dutch defense, swarming to the ball and putting 11 helmets on the ball carrier is the goal. That starts with the play at linebacker and Cole Muir (Sr.) and Bryce Kueser (Jr.). Both players are quick to read and react and have a nose for finding the ball carrier in traffic. Ryan Rampey (Sr.) is the interior defensive lineman that the Dutch will depend on for big plays at the line of scrimmage while Jacob Self (Jr.) will protect the edge and get after the QB from his end spot. The secondary features Ty Mabrey (Sr.), a talented player who combines quickness and athleticism to defend against opposing wide receivers. The coaching staff consists of Phil Muir, Will Wright, Carlisle Mabrey, Jerry Ostroski, Jason Collier, Brian Underwood, Vic Wheeler, Chance Clements, Cooper Gross, Bryan Burnham, and Steve Dyer.
