Head coach Bobby Klinck continues to show the football players in Sand Springs are players he can win football games with and compete at a high level. One of the players he will lean on this season is Dominic “Dom” Forbes. Only a sophomore, at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Forbes has shown he is capable of making big plays.
Forbes started his football journey when he was in elementary school.
“I started playing football in the fourth grade, and I knew it was for me when we won the championship in sixth grade,” said Forbes.
He said being a Sandite is a lifestyle. Working hard and embracing the grind is something players at Charles Page are known for. According to Forbes, the coaching staff deserves a lot of credit.
“The best kept secret of Sand Springs football is our great coaching staff,” said Forbes.
The sophomore said he loves being around his teammates and all the different personalities. Now that he’s been on the field more, the game is starting to slow down, and Forbes admitted he is much more comfortable in the offense.
“Probably Ali McCoy he’s a funny guy and to be honest most serious about football is probably me,” said Forbes. “Understanding the plays, everything has gotten much easier now that I know everything.”
In the classroom, Forbes said he enjoys his classes and is a big fan of History.
“My favorite school subject is history because it’s interesting and my favorite teacher is probably Mrs. Anderson,” said Forbes.
As the season presses forward, Forbes and his teammates are excited to take on all challenges and stay focused on one game at a time.
“I don’t really have a game circled out because I circle every game. I’m always excited to play football and ready to take on any challenge,” said Forbes.
In his downtime, you can find Forbes training and playing catch with his teammates. He said the best advice he’s received is, “nobody cares about excuses.” Words he tries to live by. His future goals include playing football at the collegiate level.
