BIXBY SPARTANS

BOYS

Coach: Lance Kight

23-24 Record: 15-11

OUTLOOK

The Spartans will have a few new faces in the starting lineup, but the feel will be the same. A group that plays hard, willing to battle in the paint and play tough defense will be familiar to the Spartan faithful. Head coach Lance Kight said the team is growing as younger players embrace the challenge of varsity basketball.

“Many new faces for the Spartans this year. We will be physical and tough on defense, it is important for our young guys to gain experience as this will be the first varsity action for many of our players,” said Kight.

Shon Lewis – Bixby High School

Shon Lewis (6-1, Sr.) returns at point guard and is the keystone to the Spartan offense. Lewis averaged 5.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game last season. Those numbers should climb for Lewis who is a VYPE Top 100 selectee this season. One area of his game that is next level is his defense.

Tyler Wright (6-2, Jr.) appears to be the guy and the shooting guard spot. Last season Wright was able to account for 3.5 points a game, and like Lewis, his numbers should grow this season. Griffin Stewart (6-6, Jr.) is the big man in the middle at center. Stewart is one of the top athletes in the gym and has a real chance at being an impact player this season. During JV play, Stewart averaged 16 points a game.

Also look for newcomer Aiden White (6-1, Fr.) who was a solid player who held his own against varsity talent this summer. Gage Knight (5-9, Sr.) is a program kid who has been part of this team for four years. Knight is a leader on and off the court.

Other players to watch include Anthony Walters (6-2, Jr.) at shooting guard, Chance King (6-3, Sr.) at forward, and Connor Cook (6-5, Jr.) at forward.
