OUTLOOK

With another year under their belt, the Lady Spartans return with more experience and a nucleus of players that bring a lot of energy and skill to the floor. Head coach Rylie Littlejohn said the team is ready to build off the 21-win season they enjoyed last year.

“Last year’s group was extremely young. However, they pulled together to accomplish a 21-win season and a state tournament appearance to propel them forward with a renewed hunger for success. We look to build off of last year’s season by returning four starters as well as an addition of a few more solid pieces to the puzzle,” said coach Littlejohn.

Several players made the VYPE Top 100 list this season including Amaria Musick (Sr.) who averaged 10.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Kate Wernli (Jr.) brings more scoring back to the court this season after averaging 14.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.1 steals a game. Kourtney Wright (So.) will not be left out of the stat line. Wright averaged 11.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.1 steals a game. The trio all carry D1 offers into the season.

Kate Datel (Jr.) will play guard where she averaged 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Combo player Brooklyn Scarborough (Jr.) accounted for 5.1 points with 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals a game. Both Datel and Scarborough have DII offers. Don’t forget about Hallie Jewell (So.) who knocked down 6.6 points as a freshman. Jewell can provide a spark for the Lady Spartans.

Other players to watch include Posey LaBouff (So.) at guard, Addi Kramer (Jr.) at guard, Bailey Wilson (Sr.) at post, Kerrington Campbell (Fr.) at point guard, Payton Neffendorf (Fr.) at guard/forward, Kaylee Gibson (Fr.) at point guard and Avery Iliff (So.) at guard. Campbell is an exciting freshman who has multiple schools looking at her, while Wilson returns from an injury she suffered last season.
