OUTLOOK

Bixby is rich with wrestling tradition so it’s no surprise when the girls took to the mat, the program would take off. Coach Paul Mayfield has done a masterful job of having his team ready to compete at a high level. Bixby is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation and No. 1 in Oklahoma as the defending state champions in Class 6A.

The Roller name is synonymous with wrestling excellence and carrying on that tradition is Jadyn Roller (Sr.) who returns as a three-time champion and is looking to add her name to a very short list of girls four-time champions in Oklahoma. Roller is ranked No. 25 in the nation at her weight class, all while carrying a 4.0 GPA. Her leadership will help everyone in the room.

Bixby’s wrestling room is loaded with talented athletes like Millie Azlin (Jr.) who is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation at her weight class and like Roller, is a true MVP. Azlin is a captain and a two-time state champion for Bixby. Her skills on the mat and her ability to dominate opponents makes her a nightmare for most of the people she will face this season.

Another name to watch this season is Mak Gregg (Sr.) who enters her final season as a two-time state placer and is looking to find her way to the top of the podium this season. Gregg is known for her work ethic and coach Mayfield called her a “great competitor.” Other wrestlers to watch include Abbey Miller (Jr.) who coach Mayfield calls a “extremely hard worker and a leader in the program.” Miller will do all the little things to help her team and teammates. She excels in the classroom and encourages her teammates like a true leader. Larra Mullin (So.) was a junior high state champion and a state qualifier as a freshman. Mullin is working hard to be a state champion this season. Also look for Lily Lane (Jr.), Brissa Bernal (Sr.), Brooke Pate (Jr.), Jay’la Ford (Sr.), Aiyana Perkins (Sr.), Malana Miller (Jr.), and Madyn Novosad (Fr.).
