Glenpool Girls Soccer

When the Lady Warriors of Glenpool High School take the pitch for their first match this season against Shawnee HS on the road, head coach Derek Phillips will have a team with several returning starters from last season. As expectations grow, coach Phillips believes this team can compete against anyone on the schedule.

“The Lady Warriors will be a solid team returning seven starters from last year. With the help of a few freshmen and the improvement of some juniors and sophomores. We will look to compete in all games,” said coach Phillips.

Alexis Winkle is a senior and four-year starter who can play any position on the field. As a freshman keeper, Winkle recorded 100 saves. Her sophomore and junior seasons had her starting at center-mid, which is where she will start for her final year of prep soccer.

“A great kid with a high level of knowledge and can change the game in a moment,” said coach Phillips.

If you’re looking for her heir apparent, you might want to watch Payton Willhite. Willhite comes in as a freshman and will start this season for coach Phillips and the Lady Warriors. “She’s a highly competitive, smart, and talented kids. Her knowledge of the game and ability to create chances will be an amazing help to the team,” said coach Phillips.

Every team needs a player like Kaylen Stephens. Called a “true program kid,” Stephens is an unselfish player who shows up for work every day. She is a leader by action and makes a huge difference for this team on and off the field.

Also look for Claire Lieser to make an impact this season. Lieser contributes in ways that may not show up in the stats, but her contributions are just as important. Coach Phillips said Lieser is always doing what’s right.

The home schedule includes matches against Inola, Cleveland, Ponca City, Miami, Oklahoma Christian, Skiatook, and Summit Christian.
