Kiefer’s Trent Cantrell

As the semester inches toward the start of baseball season, Kiefer High School’s Trent Cantrell is working on his swing and preparing his mind for his sophomore season.

Cantrell started playing baseball when he was four years old. Now a pitcher and outfielder for the high school, Cantrell said he is looking forward to the upcoming season.

“My best strength is pitching. I have worked in the offseason to improve my velocity and hit my goal of 90-mph,” said Cantrell.

The sophomore said the team is working hard to reach their goals this season.

“I have been impressed with our while team. They all are working hard to reach our goal of a successful season. Kiefer is a small community so the support from not only the parents, but the coaches is great,” said Cantrell.

As for his teammates, Cantrell said the team is full of personalities and every like to work and have fun.

“Phillip Crabtree is most definitely the funniest on the team, and the most serious is probably Daxton Smith. I love our teams ability to not only be teammates on the field, but friends off the field. We are a close group of guys,” said Cantrell.

For Cantrell, inspiration comes from the people he is closest to at home.

“My mom and dad have always supporter me in everything I do,” said Cantrell.

Cantrell said when it’s game time, he like to listen to music and get locked in. His goal for life after high school is to play baseball at the collegiate level. Staying focused in the classroom is important to Cantrell. He is a member of the National Honor Society and an All-District pitcher.
