Epic Charter’s Lawson Prather – Tennis Spotlight – Presented Genesis Health Clubs

Genesis Tennis – Lawson Prather – Epic Charter

Tennis in Oklahoma is extremely competitive, especially in the high school ranks. Every year multiple tennis players make their way to the next level after competing against some excellent talent as prep players.

Epic Charter School’s Lawson Prather is now a senior and competing in his final year of prep tennis. Prather started competing in tennis at the age of eight and now that he’s ready for the next level, Prather has set big goals for himself this season.

“My goals for this season are to improve my overall tennis game for college play. I have been attending Epic Charter Schools and have been going there since 6th grade,” said Prather.

Mainly a singles player, Prather is a member of the Genesis tennis program which has helped him in every aspect of his game. From the preparation for a match to gaining a mental edge, Prather said it’s made a big difference.

“My never quit mentality is one of my strengths and to continue to improve in my mental. Genesis has helped with my nutrition and mental game,” Prather said. “I enjoy the facilities as well.”

That mental edge sets Prather apart from his competition.

“I mentally prepare myself for competition by visualizing myself winning eating the right foods and training hard,” Prather said.

The senior said he’s proud of his accomplishments on the court but is most proud of having good grades and becoming an Eagle Scout. Prather said he is looking forward to this season and what comes next.

“After high school I will be attending Rollins College and earring a business degree and playing tennis,” said Prather.
