Holland Hall’s Ethan Taber
When Holland Hall’s Ethan Taber was in the sixth grade, he got his first taste of competitive basketball and knew this was the sport for him. Now a varsity player for the Dutch in his senior year, Taber can look back on his career and be happy with the results.
The relationships he built with his teammates is something he is most proud of as a student-athlete representing Holland Hall.
“What I love most about my teammates is how easy it is to joke with them even after a loss or tough day.
As a forward, having a physical style of play is important and Taber said playing inside is where he is most comfortable. Taber said his defense is where he shined on the court.
“I think a good strength in my game is my defense and something I improved on this season was being more aggressive on offense,” said Taber.
The senior said he’s inspired by his trainer.
“A big inspiration to me off the court has been my trainer Elijah Bullard; he always has time for everyone and is always a listening ear at all hours of the day. He goes to work at 5am and still is in the gym training after work until 8:30 every day,” said Taber.
This season Taber said he’s been impressed with several of his teammates throughout the season.
“One teammate that has really impressed me is Bryson Cool, he’s had to go in and out of the starting five but always comes in ready to play and hit big shots,” said Taber.
Athletics is just one part of the formula that makes Holland Hall a special place for students like Taber.
“What makes Holland Hall a great place for student-athletes is the modular schedule. You get plenty of time during the day to get all your homework done so you can focus on sports after school or if you don’t have homework, you can lift or get shots up in the gym,” he said.
With some free time coming his way, Taber said he plans to spend much of it with friends and family before heading off to college.
“When I have downtime, I like to hang out with my friends, shoot hoops with my siblings, and listen to music,” Taber said. This summer I’m going to get a job and try to spend as much time hanging out with my friends and family before I go off to college. I’m more than likely going to the University of Oklahoma to major in mechanical engineering and then go from there.”
