Kiefer’s Sienna Renz – Softball Spotlight

When Kiefer High School junior Sienna Renz became a member of the varsity softball team, it was a great day for her and for the team. Renz is the ultimate teammate and someone who loves being part of the team.

“My coaches are encouraging and push us to be our best. They have supported me during tough times, and I know they are my biggest fans when I’m doing great and when I’m struggling. Our teammates always have each other’s back on and off the field. We have the best energy and make the game fun. They compete hard and have great character, I am so lucky to play with these girls,” said Renz.

For Renz, her source of inspiration comes from one of her best friends.

“I am inspired by Hadley Wood, she was one of my best friends. Hadly and I both started playing school softball at Jenks in 6th grade and she moved to Kiefer after the 8th grade season. Her dad Josh and her saw potential in me when nobody but my family did. She convinced me to transfer to Kiefer so we could spend our high school years there and I started there the last few weeks of 8th grade. Without her, I would have never been part of the Kiefer Trojans softball team and may not have played anymore. I would not be where I am in softball or as a person without her,” Renz said. “Just one month into our 9th grade year Hadley passed away in a car accident. It was the hardest thing I’ve gone through. Since then, I decided I was going to play for her and work hard so that I would get opportunities to talk about her. Hadley was funny and always had an opinion, she taught me to stand up for myself and put myself outside of my comfort zone. My goal is to continue to honor her through softball and play for a college team wearing her number, #17.”

Renz said her job on the team is to encourage her teammates and be prepared when her number is called. Renz is a member of the student council and is looking forward to one day playing college ball.

“Play softball in college and get a degree to work in the medical field, I’m still deciding exactly what that is,” said Renz.

Renz said her favorite subject in school is history, which started after an out-of-state trip.

“My favorite subject is History which really started after I got to travel to Boston! My favorite teacher is Ms. Brown from 10th grade, she was just always nice and made class fun,” said Renz.
