
Football season may be coming to an end, but student-athletes like Jarret Hammer are just getting started.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman for the Chieftains said he loves being part of the football team and is looking forward to wrestling season after suffering an injury on the gridiron.
“I love the bond we have created and how I know that my guys have my back. My injury wasn’t expected and put a slow on our season,” Hammer said.
The left guard said his strengths are in his hands and he is working hard to get his body prepared for wrestling.
“My strength is having extremely good grip strength and if I can get hand on you, I’ll win. I’m still doing all my pt and extras to try and get my mobility back,” Hammer said.
As for the teammates who left an impression on him, Hammer said some are more vocal while others keep the team loose.
“The most vocal teammate is Levi Jensen, and I would give it to Bux for making ever one have a good laugh,” Hammer said.
The senior said he finds inspiration in his mom, and he enjoys spending time with his guys from the team.
“My mom because no matter what she has always just put her head down and kept moving forward,” said Hammer. “I enjoy going to dinner with my guys after games or practice.”
His favorite subject in school is math and his favorite teacher was Mrs. Hudgins during his sophomore year.
“My English teacher, Mrs. Hudgins was the best teacher I have ever had.”
