OUTLOOK

Competing is Class 6A is a challenge, but if there is one thing we know about Jenks High School, it’s their willingness to step up to the challenge and face it head-on. Coach Daniel McChesney is in his third season at the helm of the Trojan ship, and this season is shaping up to be one of his best.
“Returning the core of our team after strong years the last two years we have a team with talent, size, depth, and youth that is looking to make the leap to the state tournament for the first time since 2022,” said coach McChesney.
A big reason for the optimism is the return of Evan Goodwin (6-3, Sr.) at guard. Goodwin has shown he brings superior athleticism to the floor and enters the season only 12 points away from hitting the career mark of 1,000. A three-year starter, Goodwin is turning heads and making schools at the next level take notice.
“Evan has several Jenks scoring records already including points in a game, three-point makes in a season, three-point makes in a game. Has several collegiate offers including SWOSU, Allen CC, and Manhattan Christian,” said coach McChesney.
There are several seniors to watch this season including Averi Edmundson (6-0), Parker Wilson (6-6), Harry Maud (5-11), Bryson Hairs (6-0), and Ace Gilliam (6-3). Look for Wilson to see time in the paint.
A sophomore the team is excited to see play this year is Aiden Bezenah (6-7, So.). Versatile enough to play inside or the perimeter, Bezenah can help this team on both ends of the court.
“A 6-foot-7 do it all player who will make a name for himself this year. He can play inside or stretch out to the perimeter and is a defensive rim protector. Moving into a starting role he will have an instant impact on our success this season,” said coach McChesney.
Other players to watch include Braxton Daniel (6-5, Jr.), Nashua Charlson (6-0, Jr.), Ryan Goodwin (6-0, Jr.), Jake Maddox (6-1, Jr.), Kash Williams (5-11, Jr.), Jaylon Cato (5-10, Jr.), Kailib Dillard (6-3, Jr.), Jamison Mobley (6-4, Fr.), and Alex Courtney (5-11, Fr.).
